Social Media Policy

It’s important your facility have a Social Media Policy to protect PHI and as well as your staff. In developing a social media policy for your facility it is recommended to include:

1. Staff guidelines for use of Facebook, Twitter, Linked In.

2. Use of personal electronic devices; referred to as BYOD-Bring Your Own Device.

3. Personal use of facility blogs; representing self or facility

I’ve developed social media policies and procedures as well as a comprehensive media Tool Kit for use by staff so they are clear on personal responsibility when blogging, tweeting or otherwise engaging in today’s social media.

Both Mayo Clinic and Vanderbilt University Medical Center have comprehensive guidelines for their staff regarding use of social media.
